Lovely Lady 05:04
I am a gypsy, a traveler of sorts I pack up my things and I go I’ve had my options and offers to stay But none of them I would call home Well we met on the corner, in the middle of nowhere She kindly invited me in Opened her doors to a wandering stranger Grabbed me like no place I’ve been And she wrapped her arms round me with slow rollin’ hills And sweet gold embrace of her sky She held my heart softly in the rock of her waves, Her wind gently kissed me goodnight Well I’ve found myself in all kinds of places Yes, I have been down a few roads And many a time I have lost my direction With no mind for where I was going Well all roads lead some place, sometimes to treasures That hook your attention so fast They catch you off guard when they show up, surprise you They alter and change all your plans Now I want to be wrapped in the arms of her with slow rollin’ hills And sweet gold embrace of her sky She can hold my heart softly in the rock of her waves, Her winds, they can kiss me goodnight Some say that luck is a matter of chance and good timing But if you go looking for things, you’re likely to find them Well I want to live in the woods near the ocean In a house I built with my hands Wakin’ up daily with my own lovely lady Who equally cares for this land We’d stroll down the clay path in the mist of the morning And play with the good farmer’s dogs We’d host crazy parties in our open frame kitchen Sharing our stories and songs And she’d wrap her arms round us with her slow rollin’ hills And sweet gold embrace of her skies She’d hold our hearts softly with the rock of her waves Winds blowin’ kisses goodnight Yes, I want to live in the woods near the ocean In a house I built with my hands Wakin’ up daily with my own lovely lady Who equally cares for this land

Green Meadow 04:29
Green Meadow Way on down where the hummingbirds play A warm spring sun is kissin’ your face A little Kung Fu in a photograph, The silly things really are the things that last And you make me a king with your petaled crown The one you made with the roots you found Well I’d be a happy man to rule A kingdom in the forest with a queen like you And now we’re sittin’ on a scarf in a green meadow Takin’ it easy, livin’ life slow Sittin on a scarf in a green meadow Takin it easy, letting love grow We could hang your hammock from a tree In the Bloedel Conservatory We’d hide it in the corner so it won’t be found I’d swing you in the sky, so high above town But the hands on the clock say it’s time to go Way on down to where the lazy river flows You teach me a message I’m supposed to send And write it on my hand so I won’t forget And now we’re walking through the fields of a green meadow Takin it easy, livin’ life slow Walking through the fields of a green meadow Takin it easy, letting love grow Well if everyday is a road that winds And any one thing is just a matter of time We’d better make a stop for groceries We’d better be prepared for our destiny Now we’re floatin’ through the fields of a green meadow Takin it easy, livin’ life slow Floatin’ through the fields of a green meadow Takin it easy, letting love grow Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo Ba Doo Doo

The Most Beautiful Song I Know Rivers may sing sweet melodies And the birds they may whistle their hearts to the breeze They sound pretty, but not lovely like you The wind may conduct a choir of trees When it blows they recite a grand carol of leaves It’s a cute lullaby, but not enchanting like you You are……you are….The most beautiful song I know I hum to your tune, cause I know you by heart I sing you out loud, when we are apart I could lay down and listen to you for the rest of my life And I dance in your verses like soft falling rain Your love is my anthem, my favourite refrain, no, You never grow old, you grow fonder on me Cause you are….you are….The most beautiful song I know The most beautiful song I know

Stronger Together It takes one to have a bright idea Two to share the worry It takes three to split the weight when it’s too much to carry It takes four to build a shelter that withstands the weather Anyone can do it alone, but we’re stronger together Like links in a steel chain (We are stronger together) Like a tool belt full of tools (We are stronger together) Like muscles in the body (We are stronger together) Anyone can do it alone, but we could all use a little help Like a roaming pack of wolves (We are stronger together) Like feathers on a wing (We are stronger together) Like laughter with a friend (We are stronger together) Anyone can do it alone, but we could all use a little help Like members of a family (We are stronger together) Like a forest full of trees (We are stronger together) Like water in a river (We are stronger together) Anyone can do it alone, but we could all use a little help It takes one to have a bright idea Two to share the worry It takes three to split the weight when it’s too much to carry It takes four to build a shelter that withstands the weather Anyone can do it alone, but we’re stronger together

All We Ever Need Sarah goes to work everyday at 9 Fixing the world, trying to make it right Tired of searching for a man online Cuddles with her roommate every Saturday night Judith cuts through lies like a razor blade A senior partner, yes she has it made Lives in the city, but she can’t stay Moves to a town where the people wave All we ever want is a little affection Somebody to hold at the end of the day All we ever need is a little connection Somebody to tell us everything’s okay Richard loves his wife and her soft embrace Rubs her feet and plans getaways But she works too much to reciprocate He calls it quits cause she’ll never change All we ever want is a little affection Somebody to hold at the end of the day All we ever need is a little connection Somebody to tell us everything’s okay Well the heart only wants a few things The simple tune and touch of love Is all it really needs….. And all we ever want is a little affection Somebody to hold at the end of the day All we ever need is a little connection Somebody to tell us everything’s okay And all we ever want is a little affection All we ever need is a little connection

Old Friend Life I met a wise woman, on river valley walk Three feet of snow, just talking to her dog She said “Excuse me sir, awful long face for the morning” Well old friend life, kicks you in the ass when you need it Well it didn’t take long, for her to identify where I went wrong Being stubborn like a new age country song, first to be the one to point the blame She said “It really is a shame, seems quite clear to me You’re trying to pave your way, pushing and pullin’ so hard against the grain Soon enough an engine’s gonna blow” “Well old friend life, kicks you in the ass when you need it If you don’t pay it mind, you’re gonna have to go and repeat it” “So you spent 5 years, waking up before the sun rises high Waiting for the moment that could clarify All the things you didn’t want to know So you ran on low, feet draggin’ on the ground You forced your soul, in opposite direction of the river flow Thinkin’ it’s a due you gotta pay” And old friend life, kicks you in the ass when you need it If you don’t pay it mind, you’re destined to repeat it Well I thanked that woman, and her little dog for their honesty And taking time to talk to a wandering man, and his troubled thoughts in the morning And since that day, I’ve found it quite clear to me there’s always other ways To get where you’re going, but you gotta take some blame Ditch your ego at the door Cause old friend life will come and kick you in the ass when you need it If you don’t pay it mind, you’re destined to repeat it And it keeps on kickin’, till you learn to let go It keeps on kickin’, till you learn to let go Just let go..

I Remember 05:07
I Remember I remember walking through the courtyard Where market fleas would peddle ancient coins and vintage lampshades And kids with hungry eyes for ninja turtles, feeding their addiction To the sugar rush of deep fried mini doughnuts The ones all dressed in cinnamon The kind that you could eat all summer long I used to find them there on Sundays, but development tore down that big old hall And I remember waterslides and sunscreen Kamikaze carpets The flavour of banana freezy pops Inner tubes and tunnels, twisting turning Wipe out competitions Molten pavement screaming at my feet The first time a pretty girl had given me her phone number to call I used to go there with my brother, but development tore down that waterfall And I was told everything changes Some things you love, they’ll go away And it may be the sign of growing older And I remember dinosaurs and train rides Hopping off and hiding in the cave to scare my family Prehistoric push cars, mini golf, Forty Foot Fred Standing at his post, always waving To where Alapalooza was the first live show I ever saw Nearby in a building called The Boardwalk, but development tore down its dusty walls And I was told everything changes Some things you love, you’re gonna hate to see’em leave And it may be the sign of growing older But you still remember They say a salmon, it can find its own way home From instincts in the water tied to microscopic particles It knows it when it gets there, it feels the moment memory starts flooding in And it finds out there are streams it can no longer swim Old chapters sometimes close, making way for new beginnings Looking back is hard, when all your favourite rocks are out of place Well you can reminisce in sadness or look back with a smile Upon your face And I was told everything changes Some things you love, you’re gonna hate to see’em leave And it may be the sign of growing older Well I’ve seen everything changing Some things I loved, they are long long gone And it must be the sign, I’ve grown older But I still remember I’ll always remember

How Me Wear Me Socks Some people think I’m crazy, that I’ve surely lost me mind When they looks upon me mis-matched feet they often ask me why I answer in the honest, I’d never tell a lie It’s how me wear me socks and I be feeling mighty fine! It’s how me wear me socks b’y it’s how me wear me socks It may seem quite peculiar to the ordinary flock But I be not tryin’ to fool ya b’y, it’s how me wear me socks Some say it’s in the dryer where the socks all go to die Some believe it’s in the wash machine where many are left behind No matter way you looks it, there be socks there all alone Those socks they be survivors and I gave’em all a home They may be different sizes and the patterns may be wrong But diversity in any situation makes for strong My lefts and rights are yin and yang and every kind of shui Harmony of lights and darks as do the nights and days It’s how me wear me socks b’y it’s how me wear me socks It may seem quite peculiar to the ordinary flock But I be not tryin’ to fool ya b’y, it’s how me wear me socks And socks they be alive, full of personality The shorties love the sunny shine, the woolies love the sea The fuzzy ones are happiest when gazing at the stars, The red ones if you piss’em off, will kick you in the arse So if you still thinks I be crazy there be one thing I can say Mix and match a pair of socks and brighten up your day Save a few from lonely isolation in the pile Wear them like the socks they are and wear’em all with style! It’s how me wear me socks b’y it’s how me wear me socks It may seem quite peculiar to the ordinary flock But I be not tryin’ to fool ya b’y, truth be all I got Simply how me wear me socks, b’y it’s how me wear me socks It’s how me wear me socks b’y it’s how me wear me socks It’s how me wear me socks b’y it’s how me wear me socks…………

On Your Own 03:41
On Your Own When you were a child, in a hurry to get older You couldn’t wait to bust out of your stroller And get out on the road Wasn’t very long before you started walking Fell a bunch of times, but your parents, they caught you And all that you remember is that you did it on your own That you did it on your own That you did it all alone And you felt so proud thinking that you did it on your own You grew up pretty fast on your way to make your fortune Learned lots of lessons, lots of people told you that If you’re gonna make it, you better make it on your own So you killed yourself to prove that you were better Pushed every button, and pulled every lever All so you could say you did it on your own That you did it on your own That you did it all alone And you burned a lot of bridges saying that you did it on your own Well you wanted all the credit, you did anything to get it Sold bits of your soul to save a little pride Sooner or later, you figured it out you would’ve landed in the gutter And without the help of others You’d be on your own All alone Without the helps others you’d be sitting there, on your own Nobody does it on their own Nobody does it all alone Without the help of others you’d be sitting there on your own Without your mother and your father you’d be standing there all alone Without your brother and your sister, all your teachers and your cousins All the strangers on your journey who became your friends and lovers You’re all in this together and nobody does it on their own

Thank You 03:51
Thank You There are stories that you hear about that break your beating heart That hit you like a freight train, and leave you blown apart inside And there are stories that will lift you up, higher than the clouds That warm you for a lifetime, and you never come back down Well I know both sides of the coin, the shiny and the dirt I know how good love feels, and also how it hurts I’ve felt the breath of pressure breathing down my naked back And sweet relief of sunshine, pushin’ through those cracks I got 100 million questions bout the way the world works And there’s 200 million answers that I’ll never understand One thing I’ve come to know is that things will always change And while I’ve got this chance I want to take the time to say Thank you, for the strength I couldn’t find Thank you, for the peace I feel inside Thank you, for the kindness in your smile, your gentle helping hands I’ve never known a better friend Thank you, for your thoughts and open ears Thank you, you’ve always been there through the years Thank you, for the kindness in your words For standing by my side, I hope you know how much you changed my life Thank you….. Well there’s one thing that I’ve come to know is we’ll all be gone someday And while I have the chance, I want to take the time to say…… Thank you…… Thank you, for your truth and honesty Thank you, for the hope you’ve given me Thank you, for the kindness in your heart For giving me a chance and taking time to understand Thank you, for your love and open arms Thank you, just for being who you are Thank you, for the kindness in your soul, the comfort in your eyes I hope you know how much you’ve changed my life Thank you……….

about

This album is symbolic of many things - Community, connection, collaboration, mentorship, patience, friendship, family, love, adventure, inspiration, and humour. It is the result of engaging with hundreds of people through walking thousands of miles of Canada, listening to their stories, and taking time to learn. It is the surprise answer to the question that "I'd Rather Walk," set out to discover in 2013.

"All We Ever Need," came to life because of YOU! My deepest thanks to all who participated in the crowd funding endeavour to make this album a reality. I have never felt so proud of something in my life, and it wouldn't exist without your help.
